This is going to be a blog on a rude subject, so if you get offended by what follows don’t say you weren’t warned. If you don’t like it, too bad; it’s my blog and I’ll post what I want.
http://www.youswear.com/sitemap.asp?language=French&word=baise+toi One of the expressions the French use for “fuck you” is “baise-toi”, which I will appreciate uses the grammar used when forming a French imperative sentence. That is, at least when you are talking to one person whom you would call “tu” – I’ve never heard of “baisez-vous” when saying “fuck you” to more than one French person you would call “tu” (or indeed, to one or more older persons you would normally be expected to call “vous” – although that should hardly be surprising!). Would that be “baisez-vous” or just “baise-vous”? You would have ask a native French person what they think (if you dare).
But French or not, I can understand people being less interested in grammatical and other linguistic formalities and proper literacy in expression when they are keen to use vulgar expressions such as these, or else we would probably regularly hear “fuck yourself” rather than “fuck you” in English (although, of course, everyone has heard of “go fuck yourself” in English – with or without an “and” in between the words “go” and “fuck”). Indeed, in the English expression “no shit”, “shit” doesn’t necessarily designate anything explicitly negative, such as anything virtually guaranteed to annoy or affront someone one; or is that just me?
